Nearly 193,000 more passengers than the previous summer. The Federico Fellini airport serving Rimini and San Marino closed its flight season — running from 29 March to 24 October — with 566,909 travellers, up 51.4% on 2025.
The result brings the total for the first ten months of the year to 591,992 passengers. AIRiminum, the airport’s management company, confirms its forecast of surpassing 610,000 by the end of the year.
Growth has been driven above all by international flights, which accounted for 86.1% of traffic between January and October. Over the summer, Poland was the leading foreign market, with 114,423 passengers and a 230.4% increase, followed by the United Kingdom with 78,367.
Among individual destinations, Budapest came out on top, ahead of Tirana and Kraków. Combining all three airports it serves, London was the leading urban market, with 64,196 travellers.
Ryanair and Wizz Air together accounted for 89.8% of summer traffic: the former carried more than 323,000 passengers, while the latter reached around 185,000. Scheduled routes rose from 18 to 22, while average aircraft load factor climbed to 85.8%.
A national comparison based on Assaeroporti data for January-September shows Rimini overtaking Perugia and Ancona for the first time since the pandemic. With a 48.4% increase, Fellini airport recorded the highest growth among Italy’s 28 airports handling more than 500,000 passengers.
For 2027, plans include Ryanair’s first base with two aircraft and a new easyJet route to Berlin. Twenty-eight scheduled routes are already planned, with the goal of exceeding 30.
