Bruno Pelliccioni and Lorenzo Ercolani have secured the Italian 2WD Championship title after an overall victory at the Rally dei Nuraghi e del Vermentino storico, driving a Ford Escort RS. The result capped off a highly successful weekend for Scuderia San Marino, which was also competing in the Halloween Ronde on Sammarinese soil.
The Vermentino storico also saw a second-place overall finish for Nemo Mazza and Domenico Mularoni, with Nicolò Fedolfi and Luigi Pirollo finishing fourth. Fedolfi will now fight for the 2WD title at the Rally del Brunello. These results also earned Scuderia San Marino the top spot in the team standings.
In the modern-car category, Giacomo Marchio and Silvia Dall’Olmo, driving a Lancia Ypsilon Rally4, won the Rally4 class and finished second overall among the 2WD cars. Jacopo Rigo and co-driver Mirco Gabrielli, however, were forced to retire. At the Rally del Garda, Valentina Pasini partnered with Pierluigi Federici and finished eighteenth in the Rally2/R5 class.
On the track, at Mugello, Giacomo Altoè finished tenth in the GT3 category of the Italian GT Endurance Championship driving a Ferrari 296, after a collision dropped him down the order. At the same circuit, Lorenzo Cheli closed out his season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia with his best result of the category: battling heavy rain, he brought the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup home in eleventh place overall in the championship’s final race.
In karting, the SM Squadra Corse team finished the 24 Hours of Viterbo in fifth place out of thirty crews at the start.
