San Marino: stopped with drugs and weapons in car, four reported and expelled

Civil Police traffic stop in Borgo Maggiore leads to charges and expulsion for four people with criminal records found with hashish, a knife and a fake gun.

Four people were reported to authorities and expelled from San Marino after being stopped in a car found to contain drugs and weapons. That was the outcome of a Civil Police check carried out on the afternoon of Monday, November 2, at around 6:30 pm, along Via 28 Luglio in the Castello of Borgo Maggiore.

In the car were two Albanian nationals aged 21 and 25, a 23-year-old Romanian, and a 25-year-old Italian woman, all with extensive criminal records for drug offenses, weapons charges, handling stolen goods, and resisting a public official.

The three men had no identification documents and were taken in for identity checks. The driver, an Albanian national, turned out to have no driving licence and was found to be under the influence of cocaine and cannabinoids.

While searching the vehicle, officers found hashish, a butterfly knife, and a replica pistol lacking the red safety tip that would normally distinguish it from a real firearm.

Taken to police headquarters for further checks, all four were reported to the judicial authorities and expelled from Sammarinese territory.

The car was placed under administrative seizure, while total fines exceeded 2,000 euros. Its registration document was also withdrawn due to a number of technical irregularities.
