39,191 people are now eligible to vote in San Marino, following an update to the electoral rolls examined by the Electoral Commission, which met at the Civil Registry offices in the presence of the Secretary of State for Internal Affairs, Andrea Belluzzi.
Compared with the previous review, there were 17 new registrations, mostly due to citizenship acquisitions, and 250 removals, 235 of which were due to death. The electorate now comprises 18,067 men and 21,124 women.
The Commission also decided to relaunch the working group on vote digitalisation. For polling stations within the territory, simplification tools such as electronic totems will be evaluated. For voters abroad, the possibility of electronic voting will be studied, with further analysis needed on data security and protection against interference.
The Commission also approved a redistribution of voters among the three Domagnano polling stations, in view of the growing number of registered voters and in order to comply with the 900-voter limit per internal section.
Among the notices received was the filing of a symbol for the Socialist Party, which will be checked for potential similarity with symbols that appeared on the 2024 ballot paper.
Finally, Belluzzi announced that Commission I will soon hold a hearing on how polling stations are set up in schools, following the approval of the related Arengo Petition (Istanza d’Arengo).
