Del Conca USA is changing shape, but staying true to its roots. Gresmalt Group has acquired 51% of the Del Conca Group’s American company, forging a new industrial partnership aimed at driving growth primarily in the United States and Canada.
The deal involves Del Conca USA, founded in 2014 with a production facility in Loudon, Tennessee. It’s no small operation: the American plant employs around 130 people, generates revenue of roughly $50 million, and serves the North American market directly.
For Gresmalt, taking a majority stake marks another step in its expansion outside Italy. The group aims to combine its own expertise with the industrial, technical and commercial know-how Del Conca has built up in the United States.
“With the acquisition of 51% of Del Conca USA, Gresmalt is taking an important step in its international growth path,” explains Filippo Salvarani, chairman and CEO of Gresmalt Group. “We’re ready to pool our expertise and resources to strengthen our offering in North America.”
For Del Conca, meanwhile, a new chapter is beginning without a break from the past. The American company will continue operating as before, maintaining the production, service and innovation standards it has built up over the past twelve years.
“The sale of a 51% stake to Gresmalt lays the groundwork for a new phase,” notes Davide Mularoni, chairman of Ceramica del Conca. The path set out by the two groups centres on industrial and commercial synergies, with the goal of boosting efficiency and creating new growth opportunities in the American market.
The figures give a sense of the scale of the deal. The Del Conca Group operates four plants across Italy, the United States and San Marino and produces a combined total of more than 20 million square metres a year of floor and wall tiles. Gresmalt, founded in 1968 in Casalgrande, produces around 15 million square metres a year.
With the acquisition of a majority stake in Del Conca USA, then, two Italian ceramics groups are joining forces and expertise on the other side of the Atlantic, aiming to strengthen their standing in one of the industry’s most important markets.
