Fondiss, leadership change: William Vagnini named new president

William Vagnini takes over as pro tempore president of San Marino's supplementary pension fund, succeeding Gianna Burgagni.

Leadership change at Fondiss. William Vagnini is the new pro tempore president of San Marino’s supplementary pension fund. The appointment was made during the September 15 session of the Administrative Committee, in accordance with the rotation criteria set out by regulations among the three represented components: public, union and employer.

The mechanism requires that each of the three components hold the presidency at least once during the term of office. Vagnini takes over from attorney Gianna Burgagni, whom the Committee thanked “for the important work carried out during her term and the goals achieved“.

The new president in turn thanked the Committee members for their trust, stressing that he had accepted the role “with a sense of responsibility and a willingness to contribute experience, commitment and a spirit of collaboration, supporting the Committee’s work in the interest of members“.

The new term will focus on strengthening the fund’s role, especially in light of the changes expected on the pension front. “Fondiss plays an increasingly important role in ensuring greater awareness and adequate prospects for protection and economic security in the future,” Vagnini stressed.

The new president then outlined the course he intends to pursue together with the Committee: “It will therefore be my commitment, and that of my colleagues on the Committee, to continue the work already undertaken, pursuing constructive and transparent dialogue with the institutional and social stakeholders involved, in order to improve the fund’s efficiency at a time when significant regulatory changes to the pension system are also expected“.

The appointment thus opens a new phase for Fondiss, marked by continuity with the work carried out by the previous president and close attention to the upcoming changes to San Marino’s pension regulations.
