Sport not merely as competition, but as a tool for driving development, promoting a country and investing in young people. That is the focus of the international round table scheduled for Friday, 11 September, from 3pm to 5.30pm at the Grand Hotel San Marino, organized by the Secretariat of State for Sport.
The discussion will bring together representatives of Europe’s small states, institutional figures and leading names from the world of sport. Confirmed guests include Montenegro’s Minister Zoran Jojić, Albania’s Deputy Minister Endrit Hoxha, MEP Andrey Kovatchev, representatives from Luxembourg and Monaco, and, for San Marino, Secretaries of State Luca Beccari, Andrea Belluzzi and Teodoro Lonfernini. Representatives of ACES Europe and ACES Italia will also attend.
Three main themes will be explored: the economic and social impact of sport, its role in fostering inclusion and youth development, and the ability of major events to give small countries international visibility. San Marino’s own experience will also be examined in depth, with contributions from CONS President Christian Forcellini and representatives of the country’s sporting facilities and motorsport events.
«For our communities, sporting activity goes well beyond the athletic dimension,» said Secretary of State Rossano Fabbri, describing sport as «an immediate diplomatic language, a dynamic economic driver and a direct investment in the future of younger generations».
The event is part of the San Marino European Community of Sport 2026 initiative and aims above all to strengthen cooperation among small states, comparing experiences and development models built around sport.
