The Misano Grand Prix weekend kicks off well before the MotoGP bikes hit the track. The week of the Red Bull Grand Prix of San Marino and the Riviera di Rimini is already in full swing, with riders and motorsport figures making appearances across Rimini and San Marino, while organisers finalise the logistics for handling thousands of spectators heading to the circuit.
Kicking off the calendar today, Tuesday 8 September, is “Chronotitano Hill Climb – The Trailer” in San Marino, featuring Marco Bezzecchi and Enea Bastianini alongside Davide Cassani, Mauro Sanchini and Letizia Paternoster. It is the first of several events on the “The Riders’ Land Experience” programme, which accompanies the race weekend with a series of local initiatives.
Tomorrow, Wednesday 9 September, the spotlight shifts to Rimini, where motorbikes will briefly give way to basketballs. From 5:30 pm, Piazzale Kennedy will host the FIBA 3×3 MotoGP Showcase, organised jointly by FIBA and MotoGP.
Set to take part are Francesco Bagnaia, Marco Bezzecchi and Franco Morbidelli, alongside 3×3 basketball players and special guests. “The programme includes a slam dunk exhibition, followed by a 3×3 basketball match featuring MotoGP riders, FIBA 3×3 players and special guests,” reads a statement from the Misano World Circuit. Also taking part will be basketball player Giorgio Di Bonaventura and content creator Luca Campolunghi.
Also on Wednesday, but in San Marino, the Teatro Titano will host the evening event “Oltre il Limite: San Marino Remembers Alex Zanardi”, conceived by Diego Pensalfini. Confirmed guests include Zanardi’s son Niccolò Zanardi, Loris Capirossi, Claudio Costa, Lucio Cecchinello and Johann Zarco, along with other prominent figures from motorsport and the wider sporting world.
The evening will close with a screening of the newly re-edited version of the documentary film “Voglio Correre”, re-cut and reworked by Claudio Costa, dedicated to Alex Zanardi’s sporting and personal journey.
Alongside these events, the organisational machine is also gearing up to handle the crowds heading to the Misano World Circuit. The traffic management plan drawn up by the coordination table led by the Rimini Prefecture has been confirmed, aimed at regulating access and dispersal throughout the three days of the Grand Prix.
The system establishes three separate access zones to the circuit, identified by the colours red, yellow and green, each linked to a specific ticket type. Dedicated signage across the municipalities of Misano Adriatico, Riccione and Cattolica will guide spectators toward entrances, car parks, ticket booths and areas reserved for people with disabilities.
To avoid overloading the main roads, those heading to the yellow and green zones will mainly be directed along the inland roads above Misano, while the main route to the red zone will run via the SS16 state road.
Clear directions have also been issued for drivers arriving via the A14 motorway: the recommended exit is Riccione for the yellow and green routes, and Cattolica for the red route.
At the end of each race day, meanwhile, “the outbound flow will be managed via inland roads, with dedicated and clearly signposted routes toward the Riccione, Rimini and Cattolica motorway toll booths.”
Traffic restrictions will also come into force around the circuit itself. From Thursday evening, the areas surrounding the track will be closed to traffic, with the exception of residents, law enforcement and holders of parking passes. The operation will be overseen by more than 100 officers from the Traffic Police and Local Police, supported by event stewards.
Route information will also be enhanced through Waze, which will display recommended roads according to assigned colour zones, along with parking areas and traffic closures.
On the services front, several free car parks will be available across the three zones. From Friday to Sunday, between 8 am and 5:30 pm, tourist trains will connect Misano Centro and Misano Brasile with the circuit’s red zone, running approximately every 20 minutes.
On Sunday, a free Start Romagna shuttle service will also operate to Misano’s industrial area, connecting Riccione, Misano Adriatico and Cattolica from 7:30 am to 1 pm, with return trips running from 3 pm to 6 pm.
Finally, the Misano World Circuit App will serve as the main reference point for spectators, offering the circuit map, traffic updates, the race schedule and the full programme of events taking place off the track.
