Two twenty-year-olds have been identified and placed under precautionary measures after being linked to a robbery and violent assault that took place on the night of June 13 in Marebello, targeting a young man of the same age. The measures, carried out on July 31 by Rimini’s State Police on orders from the preliminary investigations judge (Gip), include an obligation to reside in a specific location, a night-time curfew, a restraining order barring them from approaching the victim, and monitoring via electronic ankle bracelet.
According to investigators’ reconstruction, the incident stemmed from a dispute between groups of young people. The two suspects allegedly stole the victim’s helmet and then struck him repeatedly, causing serious injuries. The young man was admitted to intensive care with multiple fractures and given a prognosis of more than 40 days.
The investigation, led by Rimini’s Mobile Squad (Squadra Mobile), relied on surveillance camera footage, analysis of social media activity, witness statements and photo identifications to pinpoint the alleged perpetrators. During searches, officers also seized a cache of items from the home of one of the suspects, including starter pistols, toy guns without the mandatory red safety tip, and bats bearing extremist symbols.
