The speed camera on Via Ordelaffi has been approved by the Government and is now in the implementation phase. The Secretariat of State for Territory has addressed the issue of road safety near the schools of Borgo Maggiore, responding to a statement issued by Teodoro Forcellini and providing an update on measures already carried out and those still planned.
“We understand and share families’ concerns: the safety of children near schools is an issue this Secretariat of State considers a priority — not just in words, but in deeds,” reads the statement released on 25 August. “That is precisely why the request to install a speed camera on Via Ordelaffi was accepted and approved by the Government, and is now being implemented.”
The Secretariat explains that the installation requires a series of technical and administrative steps and that the project is part of this year’s planning schedule. “This is a project that requires technical and administrative steps, which involve timeframes that do not always match what is hoped for, but this does not mean the issue is being neglected. It is included in the 2026 planning.”
The Government also pointed to work already completed in Via dei Boschetti, where a flashing warning light and new road markings have been installed. These measures, the statement clarifies, “should be seen as a first step within a broader package of measures, not as an isolated or conclusive response.”
The reply then broadens the picture to include investments in roads and public works across San Marino. “We would like to point out, calmly and with the facts in hand, that this Government has allocated significant resources — as has rarely happened before — to road resurfacing (2.8 million last year, 2.5 million this year), roads, pavements and concrete public works throughout the territory, in cooperation with the Castle Councils (Giunte di Castello), favouring investment in actual construction projects over external professional contracts.”
“This is a matter of approach that we care deeply about and will continue to pursue,” the Secretariat continues, concluding with a confirmation of its willingness to engage in dialogue: “We remain available to families and teachers for constructive discussion.”
