Tragic crash in Sardinia: 49-year-old woman from Rimini dies while on holiday with family

A holiday in Sardinia turned to tragedy after a head-on collision between a car and a van left a 49-year-old mother brain-dead.

A family holiday in Sardinia has turned into tragedy for a family from Rimini. Doctors declared the brain death of a 49-year-old woman, who was seriously injured in a road accident along the stretch between Olbia and Arzachena.

The woman was travelling in a Citroën with her husband and their two children, aged 7 and 13, when, for reasons still under investigation, the car collided head-on with a van.

The woman’s condition appeared desperate from the outset. She was treated by 118 emergency medical personnel and airlifted to the Giovanni Paolo II hospital in Olbia, where doctors attempted to save her. Her injuries, however, proved irreversible.

Also injured in the crash were her husband, who was driving, and their two children, all of whom were hospitalized but are not in life-threatening condition. The Olbia Traffic Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash. Firefighters also responded to the scene.
