Alessandra Sabba, a 49-year-old accountant originally from Pennabilli, has died following a serious road accident that occurred on Friday along the Olbia-Arzachena road in Sardinia. She was on the island for a holiday with her husband and their two children, aged 13 and 7.
The family was travelling in a Citroën C4 which, according to initial reconstructions, veered into the opposite lane while rounding a bend and collided head-on with a Fiat Ducato. The 49-year-old bore the brunt of the impact and was airlifted by helicopter to the Giovanni Paolo II hospital in Olbia, where she was admitted to intensive care.
Her condition appeared critical from the outset. Tests revealed irreversible brain damage, and she died in the hours that followed. After brain death was declared, the organ donation procedure was also initiated.
Her husband, who suffered several fractures, and the couple’s two children were also injured. Their conditions are described as stable. The death of Alessandra Sabba has also deeply affected the community of Pennabilli, where the accountant was well known and highly regarded.
