The San Marino-Italy Association is bringing to San Leo a day dedicated to fraternity, dialogue and the transformations of our times. On Friday, 9 October, between the Palazzo Mediceo and the Cathedral, the event “Not alone, to go further” will take place, an initiative promoted by the association featuring economist Stefano Zamagni, with a programme combining reflection, institutional participation and music.
The event was conceived with the aim of bringing together San Marino and Montefeltro around themes that run through contemporary society, starting from the figure of Francis of Assisi. “Eight hundred years ago, Francis of Assisi broke through many of the walls of his time. In the place where his story meets those of Leo and Marino, together with economist Stefano Zamagni we will try to ask what that lesson can still say to our present,” explains the San Marino-Italy Association in presenting the initiative.
The day centres above all on the concept of fraternity, addressed not only as an ideal principle but also in its concrete implications. “In a time of wars, new divisions and profound transformations, talking about fraternity may seem insufficient. It is, instead, a fundamental and practical choice,” the association points out.
The event, patronized by the Secretariat of State for Foreign Affairs, the Italian Embassy in San Marino, the Municipality of San Leo and the Diocese of San Marino-Montefeltro, will begin at 5 p.m. at the Palazzo Mediceo with the conference “Fraternity as a political and economic stance.”
The proceedings will be opened by Denis Cecchetti, President of the San Marino-Italy Association, together with the Mayor of San Leo, Leonardo Bindi, the Bishop of San Marino-Montefeltro, Monsignor Domenico Beneventi, the Italian Ambassador to the Republic of San Marino, Fabrizio Colaceci, and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Luca Beccari.
The heart of the event will be the lectio magistralis “How to navigate a change of era” by Stefano Zamagni, economist and professor of Political Economy at the University of Bologna. His reflection fits into the path outlined by the association to explore today’s economic, political and social transformations through the lens of fraternity.
At 6:30 p.m., the initiative will continue at the Cathedral of San Leo with “Voices of fraternity, hymn to peace,” a concert dedicated to the themes of peace and dialogue, featuring both the San Leo Choir and the Choir of the Republic of San Marino performing together.
The evening will conclude with a moment of conviviality. With this event in San Leo, the San Marino-Italy Association offers an opportunity for encounter that brings together institutions and communities from both territories, placing dialogue and the relationship between San Marino and Italy at its centre.
