The San Marino Championship is back, and the chase after Tre Fiori begins immediately, with the champions called upon to defend the title they won last season. The 2026-27 tournament kicks off on Friday 28 August with four evening fixtures, ahead of the remaining four matches spread across Saturday and Sunday. Taking centre stage on the opening weekend will be Virtus-La Fiorita, a rematch of last season’s playoff final.
Action gets underway on Friday at 9.15pm. In Acquaviva, Folgore, now under new coach Matteo Camillini, will face a thoroughly overhauled Murata, while in Montecchio Cailungo take on Domagnano. The Wolves, coming off a season that took them within a whisker of the playoff final and European qualification, have reshaped their attack in particular following Bonetti’s departure, bringing in Arlotti and Ambrosini among others. Cailungo, meanwhile, arrive strengthened in several areas and are aiming to carve out a role as this season’s outsider.
Also on Friday, San Marino Academy, led by Nicola Cancelli, will face Fiorentino at the Stadio Crescentini. The blue-and-reds start afresh with a heavily revamped squad and Francesco Monaco on the bench. In Dogana, it will be Juvenes Dogana against Faetano, with the hosts bolstered by the arrivals of experienced players such as Dormi, Lunadei and Montanari.
Saturday at 3pm brings two more fixtures. In Acquaviva, Cosmos face Libertas, with both clubs under new management: Paolo Rossi on the yellow-and-green bench and Achille Fabbri on the maroon one. In Montecchio, meanwhile, San Giovanni take on Tre Penne. The white-and-blues want to build on last season’s remarkable comeback and re-enter the title race, while San Giovanni open a new chapter under Matteo Antonioli.
The champions of Tre Fiori step onto the pitch on Sunday, facing Pennarossa in Montecchio at 3pm. The white-and-reds from Chiesanuova have handed the bench to former national team coach Fabrizio Costantini and brought in players such as Belward, Abouzziane and the Evaristi brothers. Tre Fiori, for their part, have added Ben Kacem and Mengucci to their attacking line.
At the same time, in Acquaviva, comes the big match between Virtus and La Fiorita. The black-and-greens start the season with Oscar Muratori in charge and a revamped squad following several notable departures, including that of Scappini, replaced up front by Imre Badalassi.
La Fiorita, on the other hand, arrive on the back of the disappointment of Tuesday’s Supercup defeat to Tre Fiori on penalties, after clawing back from 0-2 to 2-2 and playing for roughly an hour with a man down. Stefano Ceci can count on last season’s top scorer, Matthias Bonetti, who also found the net in the Supercup, as well as the return of Errico to orchestrate play in midfield.
The entire opening round will be broadcast live with Italian commentary on Titani.tv. Virtus-La Fiorita will also be available on FIFA+, accessible this season within the DAZN package, which will feature the San Marino Championship and the Coppa Titano with one match per round.
