Melissa Michelotti improved her personal best by more than two minutes in the half marathon. On Sunday, October 25, in Arezzo, the San Marino Athletics Academy athlete completed the 21.0975-kilometre course in 1:28’21”, averaging 4’11” per kilometre.
The result earned her 13th place overall and 2nd in her category at the national Fidal Level A race, part of the World Athletics calendar, which drew more than two thousand participants.
For Michelotti, the race served as a preparation stage for the Florence Marathon on November 29, where she will tackle the full marathon distance for the first time.
“Taking part in this race was a special moment for me. Breaking the one-hour-thirty barrier in the half marathon by more than two minutes is something incredible. This was just a physical and mental test ahead of the marathon in Florence on November 29. It will be my first time, and together with my coaches Gianluigi Macina and Paola Carinato, as well as the people who cheer for me and support me every day, it will certainly be a wonderful experience.”
