Pennarossa confirmed their opening-day success, though not without a struggle this time, edging out Tre Fiori to pocket another three points. Gasperoni opened the scoring in the 26th minute, while Bernardi levelled in the closing seconds of the first half, allowing the yellow-and-blues to stay firmly in contention. That balance held until the 38th minute, when Morini – returning to face his former club – put Pennarossa back in front, a lead they held onto until the final whistle. Tonight Murata, along with La Fiorita and Faetano next Thursday, will look to keep pace with the Chiesanuova club.
Fiorentino was also the venue, last night, for the only draw among the early fixtures: Cailungo and Juvenes Dogana finished 1-1, courtesy of goals from Meloni and Fabbri. The green-and-reds took the lead – after failing to make the most of a two-minute numerical advantage following Righi’s red card – striking two minutes before the interval. The equaliser for Cellarosi’s side came in the 53rd minute, moving them off the bottom of the table after their opening-day defeat, just like their opponents last night.
In the only indoor fixture of the evening, Folgore claimed a resounding win. The headline act in the Falciano club’s first victory of the season was Roberto Abbruciati. His hat-trick effectively paved the way for the win, even though Folgore had gone behind after a quarter of an hour to a strike from Beinat. Two of the utility player’s three goals came in that same period, allowing Baldarelli’s side to approach the second half with greater composure. Indeed, the opening quarter of the second period saw Folgore put the game beyond doubt: Semproli and Abbruciati extended the lead to 4-1, further padded out in the closing minutes by Ercolani and Ballarini.
Tre Penne remain rooted at the bottom of the table with zero points, alongside San Giovanni (who had a bye last week) and Domagnano. After their heavy opening-day defeat to Pennarossa, Gasperoni’s side proved unable to find the net once again. As a result, Fiorentino needed just a single goal to take home all three points and draw level with Cosmos on four points from two matches. The decisive blow came from Francesco Rossi, whose 28th-minute goal was not followed by any further celebrations. There was nothing doing for Domagnano, who – playing on their own ground – failed to find the net even in the closing stages, a period that also saw red-and-blue goalkeeper Michelotti sent off.
On the same artificial pitch, Cosmos and San Giovanni had played earlier in the day. The yellow-and-greens came from behind to win, overturning an early goal from Bernacchia that had briefly given Palermino’s side hope. Strikes from Liistro and Cupi allowed the Serravalle side to turn the game around before the break, before sealing the decisive move midway through the second half with a goal from Cervellini.
