Three operators of a kebab shop in Riccione have been convicted through a summary trial by the Rimini Court on charges of illicit brokering and labour exploitation, as well as personal injury and threats.
An investigation by the Carabinieri, carried out between 2022 and 2023, uncovered a pattern of systematic exploitation of non-EU workers. Employees were allegedly forced to work 12 to 18 hours a day without rest, receiving wages below those set out in their contracts.
Investigators also documented remote surveillance via CCTV cameras, degrading living conditions, physical assaults, threats, and the confiscation of employees’ identity documents. The judge additionally ordered the seizure of assets and sums exceeding €23,200, deemed to be proceeds of the crime.
