San Marino claims five medals at Aquawalking internationals in France

A memorable international outing for San Marino's Aquawalking squad, which brought home five medals from the Mandelieu internationals in France.

Five podium finishes and a memorable international outing for San Marino’s Aquawalking squad. The blue-and-white team took part in the Mandelieu internationals in France, where more than 20 teams representing various countries competed.

San Marino fielded 14 athletes, who went on to win five medals. Simone Saraceni claimed silver in the 50 metres, while Elia Moroni took second place in the 200 metres.

Three more medals came in the Beach Trail walk: silver for Giuseppe Parrotta and Raffaella Fosca, and bronze for Nicola Selva. There were also strong results in the other individual, pairs and 4×50 metre relay events.

The outcome confirms the growth of San Marino’s movement in a still-young discipline that combines walking, running and water-based activity, and which is also looking with interest towards the upcoming Beach Games.

Coach Thierry Wanet expressed his satisfaction: “The growth of the San Marino athletes has been unexpected and very positive. We competed against strong athletes from the French and Spanish national teams and showed we can compete with determination. Now the goal is to keep growing and expand the squad.”

The event also featured meetings between delegations from different countries, coordinated for San Marino by head of mission Ketti Mina, aimed at developing new partnerships and increasing opportunities for international exchange.

The San Marino Athletics Federation (Federazione sammarinese atletica leggera) expressed satisfaction with the results achieved and congratulated the athletes and coaches involved in the French trip.
