The 2024 IGR tax refund will be credited to the SMaC Card on Tuesday, September 29. The announcement was made by the Secretariat of State for Finance and Budget, which also provided details on how the operation will work.
“The refund will be credited with reference to the taxpayer’s ISS code registered on the card,” the statement reads. Successful completion of the transaction will be confirmed via an SMS sent to the phone number associated with the SMaC Card.
The message will include the card number, the beneficiary’s name, the amount credited and the reference for the transaction. Beneficiaries are therefore advised to check that their ISS code and phone number are correctly linked to the card.
The process will continue over the following weeks. “Until 28 December 2026, every Monday morning the SMaC Card Service will repeat the crediting process for beneficiaries who were not identified in the initial disbursement — due to a missing card or ISS code — as well as for those who did not receive the full amount because the card’s rechargeable ceiling was exceeded,” the Secretariat of State specified.
