Imma Tor Faus, Andorra’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, will be the keynote speaker at the investiture ceremony of San Marino’s new Captains Regent, scheduled for October 1.
Her presence carries particular diplomatic weight. San Marino and Andorra have jointly pursued the negotiating path toward the Association Agreement with the European Union, which has now reached a crucial stage, with the signing expected between late September and October.
The announcement of the keynote speaker comes on the eve of the resumption of work by the Grand and General Council (Consiglio Grande e Generale). Tomorrow afternoon, the Council will be called upon to appoint the Captains Regent for the six-month term running from October 1, 2026, to April 1, 2027.
Political forces have already put forward their candidates: William Casali for the Christian Democratic Party (Pdcs) and Gerardo Giovagnoli for the Socialist Party (Psd). Once the Council vote is finalized, it will be up to them to welcome the Andorran minister on October 1 for the traditional investiture ceremony.
