The school bell is ringing again in Emilia-Romagna. Tomorrow, Tuesday 15 September, the 2026/2027 school year officially begins, and the regional government has chosen to mark the first day with a widespread presence across schools throughout the territory.
President Michele de Pascale will be in Ravenna, first at the Olivetti-Callegari institute and then at the Dante Alighieri high school, where two newly renovated gymnasiums will be inaugurated. Regional Councillor for Education Isabella Conti will instead meet students and staff at the Ferrari primary school and the Leonardo da Vinci secondary school in Bologna.
Members of the regional government will fan out across the various provinces: Vincenzo Colla will be in Parma, Manuela Rontini in Ferrara, Massimo Fabi in Piacenza, Alessio Mammi in Scandiano, Giovanni Paglia in Cesena and Gessica Allegni in Forlì. Davide Baruffi will visit Carpi and Modena.
In Romagna, Regional Councillor for Tourism Roberta Frisoni will also be present, expected in Riccione for the inauguration of the Panoramica primary school, which has undergone a major redevelopment project.
“The start of the school year concerns the whole regional community,” de Pascale and Conti stressed, offering their best wishes to students and thanking teachers, headteachers, staff and families.
The Region also confirmed its ongoing commitment to the right to education, inclusion, transport, building safety and tackling early school leaving. Among the new initiatives is “Settembre Insieme” (“September Together”), a pilot programme of educational, sporting and cultural activities organised in the weeks before classes begin, which is set to become a permanent feature from 2027.
