Summer is giving a boost to tourism in San Marino, with arrivals and overnight stays climbing in June and July, a positive trend that has carried into the first part of August. That’s according to data released by the Secretariat of State for Tourism, which reports more than 2,000 additional arrivals compared to last year during the two peak months of the season.
“Data from hotel accommodation facilities confirm a particularly positive trend for tourism in the Republic of San Marino during the central months of summer,” the statement reads. “June, July and the first days of August show significant growth in both arrivals and overnight stays compared to the same period in 2025.”
In detail, hotel arrivals rose by 7.32% in June, while growth in July reached 8.7%. Altogether, over the two months, hotels in the Republic recorded 2,002 more arrivals compared to the same period in 2025.
The figures for overnight stays show an even greater increase in absolute terms. “Between June and July, we recorded overall growth of 8.5%, equivalent to 2,752 more overnight stays than in 2025,” the Secretariat reports. “This is a particularly important result because it highlights not only the increase in the number of visitors, but also a greater ability to turn arrivals into extended stays in the area.”
The trend has continued into August. In the first 13 days of the month, hotel facilities recorded 14,543 overnight stays, compared to 13,220 in the same period last year — an increase of 10.01%.
Commenting on the figures, Secretary of State for Tourism Federico Pedini Amati placed particular emphasis on the rise in overnight stays.
“The figures for the central months of summer give us a very positive picture of tourism in San Marino,” said Secretary of State for Tourism Federico Pedini Amati. “The growth in arrivals is accompanied by an even more significant increase in overnight stays, and this is a particularly important element because it means San Marino is increasingly becoming a destination where tourists choose to stay longer. The data from June and July, together with that from the first 13 days of August, confirm that our work promoting the tourism offer is producing concrete results.”
Pedini Amati also addressed recent comments from Usot [the tourism operators’ union] regarding the mid-August holiday period, contrasting the statements made by operators with the data collected by official offices.
“The positive figures provided by the Statistics Office and the AllogiatiWeb system do not match the recent statements made by the Usot board to San Marino RTV, which claimed that the mid-August period was running well behind. We hope that the trend recorded so far will hold for the coming weekend, so that we can soon speak of a further success.”
The Secretariat therefore identified as its goal extending visitors’ length of stay on the Titano, focusing not only on arrivals but on the ability to generate more overnight stays.
“The Secretariat will continue working on the quality of the tourism offer and on San Marino’s ability to establish itself as a destination to be experienced over several days, rather than just a single-visit stop. The rise in overnight stays points in the direction we have set out: generating greater value for the local area, for accommodation facilities, for the restaurant industry, for retail, and for the entire economic system.”
