Intense heat will persist through Ferragosto, before a sharp turnaround hits Romagna as well. The African anticyclone will continue to affect Emilia-Romagna for much of the week, keeping conditions largely stable with high temperatures. From Sunday, however, the scenario will begin to shift, foreshadowing a more substantial temperature drop expected from Monday.
For Saturday, August 15, a fully summery day is expected. Sunshine will dominate over the plains and coast, while some afternoon cloud cover could form over the Apennines, accompanied by brief showers, especially in the western sectors.
Temperatures will remain high: forecasts point to 33°C in Ravenna, Cesena and Forlì, and around 31°C in Rimini, while other parts of the region could see highs of up to 36°C. The sultry conditions will persist overnight as well, particularly along the coast, where lows may hover around 25-26°C.
The first signs of the anticyclone weakening are expected on Sunday, when an Atlantic disturbance will bring increasing instability. Showers and thunderstorms may initially develop over the Apennines before spreading to some areas of the plains as well.
The most decisive shift is expected from Monday, as cooler air moves in from the Atlantic. Along with a greater likelihood of thunderstorms, locally intense, temperatures are set to drop noticeably. In the inland areas of Romagna, the decrease could reach as much as 9 degrees, temporarily bringing an end to the most intense phase of the heat.
