The State Secretariats for Territory and for Internal Affairs have expressed their gratitude to the Civil Protection of the Republic of San Marino and the Fire Brigade of the Civil Police for their work during the wildfire that yesterday affected wooded land on the border between San Marino and Italy, near Gualdicciolo.
The statement highlights that the operation required significant coordination between Sammarinese and Italian authorities, underscoring the importance of institutional cooperation in managing emergencies involving neighbouring territories.
During the operations, Civil Protection and Fire Brigade personnel worked alongside Italian firefighters in the firefighting effort, constantly monitoring the fire’s progress on the San Marino side and ensuring the water supply to operational teams through the network of hydrants across the territory.
“This was a complex operation, handled with professionalism, expertise and a strong sense of responsibility, which made it possible to effectively manage a potentially critical situation, safeguarding the environment and public safety,” reads the statement issued by the two State Secretariats.
Thanks were also extended to the Fire Department, the Law Enforcement Forces, the volunteers of the Italian Civil Protection and all personnel involved in the operations, reaffirming that cross-border cooperation is essential to ensure swift and effective responses in emergency situations.
In the joint statement, the Secretary of State for Territory Matteo Ciacci and the Secretary of State for Internal Affairs Andrea Belluzzi declared: “The promptness, preparedness and spirit of service shown by our Civil Protection and the Civil Police Fire Brigade represent a hugely valuable asset for the Republic. The Government extends its gratitude to them for the commitment, professionalism and willingness they demonstrated in supporting the operations and ensuring the safety of the territory. The synergy between the Sammarinese and Italian institutions made it possible to effectively address a complex situation, confirming how vital operational cooperation is in protecting people, the environment and the land.”
