A lopsided opener for the women’s Under-20 national volleyball team in the European championship qualifiers. At the PalaCasadei, coach “Pippi” Lombardi‘s side beat Monaco 3-0 in the group’s first match, with set scores that leave no room for doubt: 25-9, 25-8, 25-10.
It was little more than a practice session under match conditions, but it still counts as a full win in a tournament San Marino is hosting on home soil. All three sets ended with double-digit margins, and the outcome was never in question.
The real test, however, comes immediately. Tonight at 8:30 pm, again at the PalaCasadei, the blue-and-white side face the Faroe Islands in a match that will decide a place in the semifinals.
