Riccardo Gualtieri was in his final year at the San Marino scientific high school. His sudden death has shaken friends, classmates and teachers, uniting the Titano and Verucchio, where the eighteen-year-old lived, in grief.
The school honoured his memory with a minute of silence and made psychological support available to students.
“We’re all devastated. You weren’t supposed to leave us like this, Riccardo,” read messages from friends.
His father, Gabriele Gualtieri, also shared a tribute on Facebook, posting a photograph of his son: “In this terrible moment, I want to remember you like this — happy and at peace.”
“I don’t know where you are now, but I imagine you flying high among the Angels. To me, you’ll always be my little Ricky. Mum and Dad love you so much, and you’ll always be with us in our hearts!”
Meanwhile, no autopsy will be carried out. The forensic examination is said to have confirmed the hypothesis of a domestic accident: Riccardo apparently fell in the bathroom, striking his head. What caused the fall remains unclear.
He was found on Thursday morning by his mother, who had gone to wake him for school. Emergency responders from the 118 service were unable to save him.
