Handshakes, applause, chants and countless raised phones. San Marino gathered around Pope Leo XIV, and the visit to Mount Titano delivered one of its most spontaneous and heartfelt moments.
In the heart of the historic centre, the Pontiff moved closer to the crowd, stopping repeatedly to greet the faithful and shake hands with those gathered along the route. This unscheduled, informal gesture immediately sparked enthusiasm among those present.
Many sought a greeting, a handshake or simply a photo of the Pope from just a few metres away. Applause and chants accompanied Leo XIV’s passage, as dozens of smartphones were raised above the crowd to capture the scene.
A true collective embrace from San Marino for the Pontiff, during a morning that has been drawing both faithful and visitors to the historic centre of San Marino for Leo XIV’s pastoral visit.
