Rimini, dispute over bus departure ends in attack on driver: 38-year-old reported

A row over the timetable allegedly led to the assault on a 48-year-old bus driver in Rimini on 5 October.

The bus was stationary and he wanted it to leave. A disagreement over timetables is said to have escalated into an assault on a 48-year-old driver, which took place in Rimini on 5 October.

The Mobile Squad (Squadra Mobile) has identified the alleged perpetrator: a 38-year-old man from the Dominican Republic, already known to investigators, who has been reported to the judicial authorities while remaining at liberty.

According to police reconstruction, the man reportedly complained about the long wait at the bus stop. The driver is said to have explained that he was simply adhering to the scheduled departure time.

That exchange allegedly triggered threats and the subsequent assault. The driver sustained injuries, and onboard equipment was damaged, resulting in a disruption of the transport service.

Investigators traced the 38-year-old by reviewing footage from the bus’s onboard cameras and cross-referencing police databases.

The man has been reported to the Rimini Prosecutor’s Office for aggravated bodily harm, threats, aggravated damage and disruption of a public service.
