Aisha Nouioui has broken into the top one hundred of the Italian merit ranking. She is the first Sammarinese in the history of golf to achieve this, and she has done it at just sixteen years old.
The merit ranking is the standings that measure the best amateur golfers across the Italian peninsula: it is compiled based on results achieved at Italian championships and national tournaments played over 36 or 54 holes. It doesn’t reward a single lucky shot, in other words, but consistency throughout the entire season.
And consistency is exactly what the San Marino golfer has demonstrated in 2026: a series of strong finishes totaling 107 points, among which the 25 points earned for a seventh-place finish in the prestigious Asolo tournament stand out.
With the competitive season now drawing to a close, Nouioui is expected to play in a couple more tournaments before the year ends, aiming to further improve her ranking.
The achievement, however, means more than just the standings. In amateur golf, a category system operates whereby the presence of a player ranked among the top one hundred raises the prestige of a tournament and, as a result, the points awarded to all participants. In other words, Nouioui has now become a sought-after presence for organizing clubs.
