The opposition is calling for a report from the State Congress (Congresso di Stato) as early as next week to shed light on the affair involving Giochi del Titano. The request comes from Domani Motus Liberi, Repubblica Futura and RETE, which issued a joint statement addressing news of the criminal investigation involving senior figures at the San Marino state-owned company.
“The news coming out of Giochi del Titano is very worrying,” the three opposition forces begin, stating that, “given the gravity of the events,” it is necessary to obtain a government report in the most appropriate institutional setting as early as next week.
For D-ML, RF and RETE, the request represents “a minimal act of clarity and transparency regarding a criminal investigation involving a number of senior figures at Giochi del Titano S.p.A., with allegations of very serious offences.”
The opposition has also taken aim at the government’s communication on the matter so far. “The government’s press release is absolutely unsatisfactory given the alarming nature of the affair,” the three movements argue, stressing the public ownership of Giochi del Titano and demanding that the issue be addressed openly at the institutional level.
The statement raises a series of questions directed at the State Congress and, in particular, the Secretariat of State for Finance. The opposition first asks whether Delegated Decree 129/2026, with particular reference to Article 1 and its provisions concerning providers of games-of-chance services and casinos subject to public oversight and due diligence requirements, “has any bearing on what is happening at Giochi del Titano.”
Domani Motus Liberi, Repubblica Futura and RETE also want to know “whether anyone in government was already aware of the criminal investigations, and whether anyone acted to slow them down.” These are among the questions put forward by the three political forces in their statement, for which they are seeking an answer from the executive.
Part of the statement is also devoted to the company’s employees, to whom the opposition expresses its solidarity, hoping that the competent authorities will be able to establish the facts and that business continuity will be guaranteed.
D-ML, RF and RETE also call on the company’s leadership to “verify whether internal controls and anti-money-laundering safeguards have functioned properly” and to put in place whatever measures are needed to prevent any shortcomings that may have emerged from happening again.
The three forces are now awaiting a prompt political response. “Domani Motus Liberi, Repubblica Futura and RETE therefore expect to know by Monday whether the government will respond to this necessary request for information,” the statement concludes.
Should no response be forthcoming, they have announced they will consider further action, pointing to the possible economic and reputational repercussions for San Marino and the need, in their view, to safeguard Giochi del Titano as a significant economic asset for the State.
