Neni Rossini, president of Gruppo SIT, has been selected by the FAO as one of the “100 Women Heroes in Agrifood Systems and Rural Development”, the international initiative honouring one hundred women who have distinguished themselves in innovation, sustainability and the transformation of agrifood systems. The entrepreneur’s nomination was put forward by the Permanent Representation of the Republic of San Marino to the FAO.
The award ceremony is scheduled for today, Thursday 15 October at 2pm, at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Rome. The Secretariat of State for Territory and Environment has announced that Secretary Matteo Ciacci will attend to pay tribute to Rossini and underscore the significance of this recognition for the country.
At the helm of Gruppo SIT, a San Marino company specializing in flexible packaging for the food industry, Rossini has championed the development of new packaging solutions. “Neni Rossini has promoted innovation and the development of sustainable packaging solutions, with particular attention to reducing environmental impact, the responsible use of resources and food preservation,” the statement reads.
The note also highlights the contribution of packaging technologies to reducing food waste, as well as the entrepreneur’s commitment to social responsibility, people’s wellbeing and female leadership. From 2018 to 2024 Rossini chaired the National Association of San Marino Industry (ANIS), and in 2022 she received the Standout Woman Award for her social commitment.
The award ceremony takes place during the World Food Forum 2026, underway in Rome until 16 October, which brings together government representatives, researchers, scientists, investors, farmers, young people and communities from around the world. The chosen theme, “Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow,” frames the international discussion on building more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems.
