The San Marino Athletics Federation (Federazione Sammarinese Atletica Leggera, FSAL) is looking to Europe to help grow the sport on the Titan. President Mauro Santi and vice-president Nicola Selva took part in the European Athletics Convention in Lausanne, the annual gathering that brings together national federations from across the continent.
The three-day event focused on the development of athletics, with particular attention paid to digitalisation, the training of officials and the organisation of sporting events.
The San Marino delegation had the opportunity to meet with European Athletics leadership, representatives of the Italian federation and officials from other small European states, further strengthening international relations.
Particular interest was sparked by a dedicated meeting for federations representing small countries, during which new forms of cooperation were discussed. The talks could pave the way for an initiative directly involving San Marino athletics.
For the FSAL, taking part in the Convention offers a chance to gain expertise and create growth opportunities for athletes, coaches and sports clubs alike.
“We return from Lausanne with new knowledge, strengthened relationships and, above all, fresh prospects for collaboration, determined to turn these opportunities into concrete projects for the future of San Marino athletics,” the delegation said.
