UEFA paid a visit to San Marino to review the results of the Playmakers project, an initiative aimed at introducing young girls to football through play and Disney stories, without any competitive element.
Active on the Titano since 2021, the programme engages participants each year across two cycles of activities—one in spring and one in autumn—with the goal of fostering the growth of grassroots women’s football.
Overseeing the activities was Rosalie Borg, UEFA Coach and Educator, who toured the federation’s facilities, including the Casa del Calcio and the San Marino Stadium.
The visit’s centrepiece took place at the Acquaviva gymnasium, where the 2026 autumn cycle—inspired by the Disney film Inside Out 2—came to a close. Borg attended the session, which involved 25 girls and seven educators, before joining the closing celebration alongside their families. The young players presented her with a jersey of the San Marino women’s national team.
The visit, coordinated by Jessica Guidi, head of the Playmakers project in San Marino, continued at the headquarters of the San Marino Football Federation (FSGC) with a series of meetings focused on the organisation of activities, communication strategies, and the results achieved so far.
In the concluding discussion, participation data, challenges specific to the San Marino context, and opportunities for the programme’s future development were examined. The UEFA representative also provided the federation’s staff with operational guidance for upcoming editions.
