San Marino and Tuscany are strengthening their partnership in the tourism sector, focusing on new itineraries, joint promotion and the enhancement of cultural heritage. This was one of the main outcomes of the official visit by the President of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani, who was received by San Marino’s institutions on Friday, 6 November.
At the heart of the day’s programme was a meeting with the Secretary of State for Tourism, Federico Pedini Amati, during which a joint declaration of intent was signed to develop shared projects between the two territories.
Discussions centred on the T.T.T. project, the “The Lovely Places” Territorial Tourism Roundtable, which aims to build a lasting network among towns and areas united by common historical, cultural and landscape features, promoting sustainable tourism rooted in local experiences.
The goal is to develop new tourist routes, shared promotional initiatives and opportunities for collaboration between local administrations, highlighting the strengths of the communities involved.
The meeting was also attended by the mayors of Sestino and Marradi, Franco Dori and Tommaso Triberti, superintendent Gabriele Nannetti, the director of the Tourism Office Nicoletta Corbelli, consultant Massimo Ferruzzi, and the director of the Tourism Department Filippo Francini.
The visit began in the morning at Palazzo Begni, where Giani was welcomed by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Luca Beccari, and by Pedini Amati, in the presence of Italy’s Ambassador to San Marino, Fabrizio Colaceci.
The President of Tuscany was later received in audience by the Captains Regent, Gerardo Giovagnoli and William Casali, in the presence of representatives of San Marino’s institutions, including the Secretary of State for Culture, Teodoro Lonfernini.
During the visit, Eugenio Giani was awarded the honour of Commander of the Equestrian Order of Sant’Agata, a recognition granted for his institutional commitment and his contribution to strengthening relations between San Marino and Tuscany.
Pedini Amati emphasised the intention to continue this joint effort, with particular focus on tourism promotion, destination development and the creation of shared projects capable of supporting local economies.
