The CSdL has expressed its condolences on the passing of Antonio Carattoni, author of the book chronicling the Confederation’s first decades of history. Through its secretary general Enzo Merlini, the trade union organization conveyed its closeness to the family.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear Antonio,” the CSdL wrote in telegrams sent to the family.
In its tribute, the Confederation highlighted Carattoni’s personal qualities and the long-standing working relationship they shared: “We remember him with great affection, esteem and gratitude, for his human qualities and for the constant collaboration he always offered the CSdL, including writing the book recounting its history in its first decades — the fruit of demanding and passionate research work.
A fundamental work that allows us to preserve and pass on the Confederation’s historical memory to current and future generations.”
The volume, printed in two editions, gathers the research dedicated to the early phases of the Confederation’s trade union history. “Of Antonio,” the CSdL concludes, “we will always keep his memory alive.”
