Tre Penne came from behind to beat Juvenes Dogana and book their place in the Coppa Titano quarter-finals. The match finished 3-1, with substitute Peluso proving decisive: he scored the equaliser, set up the go-ahead goal and won the penalty that sealed the win. Cosmos also progressed, grinding out a 1-1 draw against San Giovanni, as did Pennarossa, who cruised past Cailungo 4-1 after a 3-0 first-leg win.
For Cosmos, qualification hung in the balance during the first half. After a long-range effort from Bottoni was saved by Pizzolante, San Giovanni struck first: a wide free-kick from Gregori was flicked on by Caverzan and finished with a stunning first-time volley from Giambalvo. The advantage Cosmos had built in the first leg was wiped out.
Cremonini almost responded immediately with a curling left-footed effort that went just wide.
Past the half-hour mark, Tonini also had a chance, winning the ball high up the pitch and striking hard with his right foot, but Pizzolante was equal to it. The goal that decided the tie came in the 63rd minute: Ulloa crossed and Guidotti headed home just inside the post. After his hat-trick last Friday, another crucial goal from the striker.
Late on, Semprini comfortably saved a long-range shot from Labudiak. Cosmos move through to the quarter-finals, where they will face La Fiorita, the holders of the cup.
Tre Penne’s evening was far more eventful. Chances and woodwork came thick and fast against Juvenes Dogana: Ceccaroli struck the crossbar from Alfano’s pass, before Di Addario replied by hitting the post from a Cecchetti lay-off. Ruiz then rattled another crossbar with a left-footed strike from just outside the box.
It was Juvenes who broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute, though: Dormi picked out Lisi’s run through the middle, and he made no mistake in front of Andreani. Tre Penne searched for an equaliser before the break, but Pieri arrived just too late to connect with Pastorelli’s cross, while Colonna denied Casadio.
In the second half, Bonini’s substitutions paid off. After Colonna saved from Ferranti, two fresh faces combined for the equaliser: Islamaj squared the ball with his right foot for Peluso, who beat the goalkeeper. In the 64th minute, Peluso turned provider, setting up Pieri to tap in from close range and make it 2-1.
Juvenes tried to force their way back into the game from a corner, but Tre Penne’s defence managed to clear the danger. In the 90th minute, Peluso broke away from Comuniello and was brought down in the box. Ceccaroli calmly converted the resulting penalty under the crossbar, sealing a 3-1 win and safe passage to the quarter-finals, where Tre Penne will meet Pennarossa.
Costantini’s side arrived at this stage on the back of another emphatic win over Cailungo. Needing to overturn a three-goal deficit, the red-and-greens started strongly, hitting the post through Bernardi in the 9th minute. Francioni kept his side in the game with saves against Zahir and Gjonaj, before conceding when Valli Casadei turned Abouzziane’s cross into his own net.
Cailungo levelled in the 40th minute: Cecconi played Bernardi through, who opened up his body and slotted the ball into the bottom corner. Pennarossa restored their lead from the penalty spot after Depaoli was penalised for pushing Maltoni, with Abouzziane converting.
Cailungo’s task grew even harder when Depaoli was sent off following another clash with Maltoni. Pennarossa made the most of their numerical advantage straight away: Mema cut in from the left and fired home to make it 3-1.
In the 53rd minute, Mema struck again, tapping in from close range after Zavoli’s pass across the box. Cailungo were reduced to nine men after Valli Casadei picked up a second yellow card, as the match ended 4-1.
