The Castello di Serravalle and the Chinese city of Huangshan have renewed the twinning agreement first established in 1999 by Gian Franco Terenzi. The signing took place on 12 October, during a visit to the Republic of San Marino by a five-member delegation.
“This agreement gives continuity to what was established in 1999 by the late Gian Franco Terenzi, who was its pioneer; following the path he traced, the twinning between the two cities has now been renewed,” reads the statement from the Giunta di Castello of Serravalle (the local council).
The renewal was signed by the Captain of the Castle, Andrea Crescentini, and Zuo Long, deputy secretary of the Huangshan Municipal Committee of the Party. The signing ceremony was accompanied by an exchange of gifts between the two delegations.
The visit was coordinated by the Giunta together with the San Marino-China Friendship Association, chaired by Barbara Terenzi. In its statement, the Giunta thanked the association and its president, who “coordinated the visit together with the Giunta and continues to serve as a key interlocutor between San Marino and China, acting as a true bridge and point of reference between the two countries.”
The delegation was received at Palazzo Begni by Ambassador Dario Galassi for a diplomatic meeting. The programme continued with a guided visit to Palazzo Pubblico and to the headquarters of the San Marino-China Friendship Association, home to the Museum of Chinese Art and Culture.
“The twinning between Serravalle and Huangshan represents a bridge of friendship and cooperation that strengthens the ties between San Marino and China,” the Giunta stated. “Continuing the path traced by Gian Franco Terenzi means preserving his vision and his commitment to international dialogue.”
