The new security measures introduced for RallyLegend have come under fire from economic operators. Just days before the event, scheduled from Thursday to Sunday, trade associations Usot and Usc are contesting several provisions introduced by the government, calling for clarifications and amendments.
The point drawing the most criticism concerns the ban on the sale, consumption and serving of alcohol between 9pm and 3am in the areas affected by the event and within a 500-metre radius.
According to Usot, the rule fails to adequately distinguish between gatherings considered higher-risk and the normal service provided inside bars, restaurants and accommodation facilities. The association also laments that trade categories were not consulted before the measure was approved.
Usc, meanwhile, is focusing its attention mainly on the practical application of the 500-metre limit. Operators, the association argues, currently lack sufficiently clear guidance to understand which businesses actually fall within the restricted area.
Concerns have also been raised over the ban on CE-marked pyrotechnic products, which includes certain categories normally permitted for sale.
The associations are not disputing the goal of boosting security during RallyLegend, but are calling for a review of the methods chosen to achieve it, arguing that some of the provisions risk creating practical difficulties for commercial and tourism businesses precisely during the days of the event.
