A tribute to the women and men who work at sea every day, ensuring the smooth running and safety of international maritime transport. On the occasion of World Maritime Day 2026, the San Marino Ship Register draws attention to the role of seafarers and the need to turn industry rules and policies into concrete measures to protect those who work on board ships.
“On the occasion of World Maritime Day 2026, we pay tribute to the women and men who, every day, ensure the safety, efficiency and continuity of world shipping” — reads the message released to mark the international day dedicated to the sector.
At the heart of the message is above all the shift from rules to their concrete application, with particular attention to the conditions and safety of workers. “Turning rules into concrete action means, first and foremost, protecting those who work at sea” — the message stresses.
This idea is also captured in the slogan chosen to accompany the campaign: “Seafarers first. Always.” It is a call that places the people who work on ships at the centre, alongside the issues of maritime safety and the enforcement of the rules that govern the sector.
World Maritime Day thus becomes, for the San Marino Ship Register too, an opportunity to highlight the daily contribution of crews to the global transport system and the need to accompany maritime policies with particular attention to protecting seafarers.
