Six months after signing the framework agreement, BYD takes a new step toward San Marino. The State Congress (Congresso di Stato) has approved, through its own resolution, the establishment of a San Marino-based branch of the Chinese group, one of the leading international players in electric mobility and energy technologies. The news was reported by San Marino RTV.
The approval covers a particularly broad corporate scope, not limited to the automotive sector alone. The activities listed include the development of charging infrastructure, battery collection and recovery, and research into their potential reuse.
As explained by Secretary of State for Industry Rossano Fabbri to San Marino RTV, the establishment of the company marks a step forward in the process launched in recent months, though the specific projects to be developed on Titano still need to be identified. The goal will be to assess which activities are most compatible with the Republic’s characteristics and economic interests.
The project in fact looks beyond the electric vehicle supply chain alone, toward a wider scope of action. Among the potentially relevant sectors are energy, next-generation batteries, and research and development, which will now require technical and political evaluation.
The next steps will therefore be used to define the initiatives on which to focus cooperation with BYD, assessing sustainability, economic impact and opportunities for the San Marino system. According to Fabbri, an agreement with an international group of this scale could also help strengthen the Republic’s profile and visibility on international markets.
