Robbers disguised as house painters storm bank and tie up staff: manhunt underway

Three masked men broke into a Bper branch in Riccione, restrained employees with zip ties and fled with the cash in the tills.

They showed up dressed as house painters, but their real target was the bank’s cash. The robbery took place today, Tuesday, August 11, at the Bper branch on Viale Dante in Riccione, where three men struck shortly after 1:30 p.m.

The gang, their faces hidden behind balaclavas, reportedly gained entry by forcing open a rear window, catching employees off guard as they were still working despite the branch being closed to the public.

Staff were then allegedly restrained with plastic zip ties and forced not to resist. According to initial reports, the three men did not display any weapons. They grabbed the cash available in the tills and fled.

The haul is estimated at several thousand euros, though the exact amount is still being determined. Investigators are also looking into the possibility that an accomplice was waiting outside with a getaway vehicle.

The Carabinieri from the Riccione company responded to the scene and collected footage from security cameras in the area and inside the branch in an effort to reconstruct the gang’s movements. None of the employees was injured.
