There are signs of improvement for the four-year-old boy who nearly drowned last Sunday in the pool at the Centro Vacanze San Marino in Cailungo. The child has woken up and resumed breathing on his own, although his condition remains delicate.
The update was reported by San Marino RTV, according to which the boy is still hospitalised in the intensive care unit of the Infermi hospital in Rimini.
After being intubated and kept under pharmacological sedation, his condition has reportedly shown a first positive development. However, hospital sources cited by the San Marino broadcaster state that his clinical situation remains very delicate and the prognosis is still guarded.
The incident occurred last Sunday in the pool at the Centro Vacanze San Marino, where the boy nearly drowned. After initial first aid and resuscitation efforts, he was transferred to the Infermi hospital in Rimini and admitted to intensive care.
Alongside updates on the child’s condition, investigations by the Civil Police are continuing in order to establish exactly what happened.
According to San Marino RTV, officers carried out a new inspection at the facility. As part of the investigation, footage from the cameras covering the pool has reportedly been seized, material that could help clarify the sequence of events and the dynamics of the incident.
Attention nonetheless remains focused on the boy’s condition: his awakening and the resumption of independent breathing mark the first signs of improvement, even as his condition is still described as delicate and doctors continue to keep the prognosis guarded.
