An operational meeting was held on Thursday afternoon between the Italian ambassador to San Marino, Fabrizio Colaceci, and the president of Comites San Marino, Alessandro Amadei. The meeting, according to a statement, took place “in a cordial atmosphere” and provided an opportunity to review the main issues affecting the Italian community residing in the Republic.
During the talks, several matters of particular interest to Italian nationals were addressed. “The meeting marked a fundamental moment of discussion on important issues for the Italian community, including cross-border work, the points-based driving licence and the issue of double taxation affecting former cross-border pensioners,” reads the statement issued by Comites.
One of the main topics of the meeting also concerned consular services, with particular attention to the upcoming elections for the renewal of Comites San Marino, scheduled by the end of the year.
As Comites recalls, “by the end of the year, Italian citizens residing in San Marino will be called to the polls to renew the elected council of Comites San Marino, made up of 12 members.”
The vote will take place simultaneously “in all consular districts around the world where at least three thousand Italian citizens reside.” Voting will be by postal ballot and will be open to “Italian nationals who have been resident for at least six months in their respective Consular District.”
Comites concludes with a call for participation. “All Italian citizens residing in San Marino are invited to take an active part in this important democratic event, helping to support and strengthen their reference Italian community,” the statement concludes.
