Around 30,000 visitors over three days, nearly 15,000 cable car rides and more than 3,500 hotel stays. These are the figures from San Marino Antiqua – Legends and Stories of Titano, the event that transformed the Republic’s historic centre into a sprawling medieval village from 24 to 26 July. The official figures were presented today, 6 August, by the Secretariat of State for Tourism.
According to the report released, the event recorded around 30,000 visitors, 14,926 cable car rides and 3,514 hotel stays — figures that “attest to the event’s strong drawing power and its importance for the Republic of San Marino’s tourism sector,” the statement reads.
The event was organised by the Secretariat of State for Tourism and the Tourism Office, with the involvement of San Marino’s historical groups — Cerna dei Lunghi Archi, the San Marino Crossbowmen’s Federation (Federazione Balestrieri Sammarinesi), Corte di Olnano e Compagnia dell’Istrice, Compagnia della Forca, the San Marino Historical Games Association (Associazione Giochi Storici Sammarinesi) and Filmont 301 — alongside guest groups from abroad. In total, more than 800 performers brought the historic centre to life with re-enactments, tournaments and scenes of medieval daily life.
Among the most popular events were the opening show at the Cava dei Balestrieri, staged by Filmont 301, the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the San Marino Crossbowmen’s Federation, and the Torneo delle Libertà (Tournament of Liberties), which attracted archers from across Italy.
Speaking at the presentation, Secretary of State for Tourism Federico Pedini Amati also highlighted the economic side of the initiative. “This is an extraordinary result, with a significant reduction in costs — a 30% saving compared to previous editions. San Marino Antiqua has managed to combine identity, spectacle and participation, strengthening our country’s tourism offering,” he said.
“Showcasing our medieval heritage means preserving our memory while keeping it alive and accessible, turning it into an engaging experience for visitors of all ages. Once again, this event represents a concrete investment in the quality of our tourism offering and in the Republic of San Marino’s ability to position itself as a dynamic and competitive cultural destination,” Pedini Amati concluded.
