Another day of intense heat awaits the Republic of San Marino. Civil Protection (Protezione Civile) has activated an orange alert for extreme temperatures, which will remain in effect for the entire day of Thursday, August 6, from midnight to midnight.
Forecasts point to conditions of intense mugginess and particularly high temperatures. Highs could reach 38-39 degrees, with peaks of 40 degrees especially in lowland and hilly areas. The heatwave will bring marked discomfort due to the strong combination of high temperature and humidity.
The advisory issued by Civil Protection also notes that isolated brief storms could develop along the Apennine ridge, localized phenomena that, while not changing the overall picture, could bring occasional effects.
The heatwave is affecting the rest of the Italian peninsula as well. Thursday, August 6 will in fact go down in the records of the Ministry of Health‘s monitoring system, as all 27 Italian cities under surveillance will simultaneously be marked with a red alert, the highest level of heat warning. This is the first time such a scenario has occurred since the national heatwave surveillance system was established.
