The Committee of Inquiry into the attempted takeover of Banca di San Marino has officially convened, tasked with shedding light on the affair that has dominated political and institutional debate in the Republic in recent months.
During its first session, the Committee proceeded to elect its leadership. Gian Nicola Berti of Alleanza Riformista was unanimously appointed chairman, while Enrico Carattoni of Repubblica Futura was elected vice-chairman, also by unanimous vote.
The Committee is composed of councillors Manuel Ciavatta and Maddalena Muccioli for the Christian Democratic Party (Pdcs), Luca Boschi for Libera, Gaetano Troina for Domani Motus Liberi, Luca Lazzari for the Social Democratic Party (Psd), and Emanuele Santi for Rete, alongside the representatives of Alleanza Riformista and Repubblica Futura.
The unanimous outcome of these initial votes marks the first formal act of the body, which has been tasked by the Grand and General Council (Consiglio Grande e Generale) with examining the attempted takeover of Banca di San Marino and carrying out the fact-finding activities set out in its mandate.
