Scala Malagola is heading towards a 2027 reopening, together with the nearby Parco La Pasquella. Providing an update on the project is the Secretary of State for Territory Matteo Ciacci, who highlighted the progress made on a long-awaited construction site.
«I want to focus in particular on Scala Malagola, which after years of waiting is finally moving forward at pace: stabilising the landslide by installing structural piles will allow us to reopen both the staircase and Parco La Pasquella to the public in 2027», says Ciacci.
The Secretary places the project within the broader programme of recovery and redevelopment of public spaces. «It is an open wound in our city that is finally being healed after years of inertia», he stresses.
Work on the territory is also advancing on other fronts. Following the clearing of Piazzale Menicucci, plans are moving forward to create a greener, more functional area, while at Laiala the depaving process set out in the recent decree continues, using drainage material to increase soil permeability and improve water management.
«I am very pleased with the results we are achieving on two fronts that are particularly close to my heart: depaving and healing the urban wounds we have carried for far too long», Ciacci adds.
«We won’t stop here: we will keep working, one construction site after another, to give San Marino liveable, safe spaces that people can finally enjoy».
