San Marino gears up for SMO Run: races, Hyrox and live music for a weekend of sport

A new Hyrox Race joins the lineup as the SMO Run returns to San Marino Outlet on 17-18 October.

Two days of sport, races and fun, with one new addition: the Hyrox Race. The SMO Run 2026 returns on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October, an event organized by Track&Field San Marino with start and finish inside San Marino Outlet, the initiative’s main partner.

The programme was unveiled this morning, Wednesday 14 October, during a press conference attended by organizers, institutions and partners.

The centrepiece of the weekend will be Sunday 18 October, with the start set for 9am. Athletes will be able to choose between the competitive 5km and 10km races, both on FIDAL-certified distances, the Corporate Run aimed at groups of friends and colleagues, and a non-competitive run or walk open to everyone.

The event also carries national sporting significance. The SMO Run is officially recognized by FIDAL (the Italian Athletics Federation), is part of the Emilia-Romagna Road Running Tour, and will count as the 2026 San Marino Road Running Championship over 10 kilometres, a title awarded by the San Marino Athletics Federation (Federazione Sammarinese Atletica Leggera).

“It will be a multidisciplinary weekend,” explained Samuele Guiducci, president of Track&Field San Marino, who also announced the participation of high-level athletes who will use the competition as a test run ahead of upcoming international events.

The course will run along a flat, 5-kilometre city circuit, completely closed to traffic – a feature also highlighted by Mauro Santi, president of the San Marino Athletics Federation: “The flat route, laid out on a 5km city circuit closed to traffic, is suitable for both competitive athletes and amateurs.”

The main novelty will arrive on Saturday morning with the Hyrox Race, organized in collaboration with Move. This is a format combining running and functional exercises: participants will tackle eight training stations, each separated by a one-kilometre run.

The format was presented by Alberto Gambuti, who also announced that Team Move Run Club will take part in the Corporate Run.

The programme won’t be reserved solely for athletes. Free sports activities for children and teenagers under 16 are planned for Saturday afternoon, while Sunday will also feature fitness sessions in collaboration with Fluxo.

Rounding out the weekend will be live music: on Sunday from 4pm to 6pm, Rotation Stage – a rock band made up of around 30 musicians and singers – will perform.

The Giunta di Castello of Serravalle also confirmed its support for the initiative, represented by Gloria Menghi, who highlighted the value of sport as an opportunity for wellbeing and community.

Online registration will remain open until Friday 16 October. It will then be possible to register in person at San Marino Outlet on Saturday 17 October from 3pm to 6pm, and on Sunday 18 October from 7:30am to 8:30am, ahead of the 9am start.

All activities will take place at San Marino Outlet. For information and registration, contact the organizers at info@tfsanmarino.com or call 345 7807591.
