Subsidies to help purchase air conditioners and home cooling systems for the most vulnerable residents. This is the proposal that Attiva-Mente intends to bring to the discussion on San Marino’s upcoming Budget Law.
The goal is to help people with disabilities, the elderly and other particularly at-risk citizens protect themselves from high temperatures, while also encouraging the use of energy-efficient systems.
The initiative is part of the “Clima di Diritti” (“Climate of Rights”) project, through which the association draws attention to the consequences of climate change for the most vulnerable groups.
Attiva-Mente has already put forward an Arengo Petition (Istanza d’Arengo) calling for national guidelines to be introduced on protecting people with disabilities during emergencies.
Meanwhile, ahead of COP31 in Turkey this November, the association has begun talks with the Secretariat of State for Foreign Affairs to call for greater involvement of people with disabilities in international decisions on climate policy.
