Councillors Gian Carlo Venturini and Carlotta Andruccioli will represent the Captains Regent at the European Conference of Parliament Speakers, set to take place on 15 and 16 October in Rome. The gathering will bring together the speakers of parliament from the 46 member states of the Council of Europe, or their delegates.
The Secretariat announced that “a council delegation from the Republic of San Marino, made up of Councillors Gian Carlo Venturini and Carlotta Andruccioli, will take part in the European Conference of Parliament Speakers, scheduled for 15 and 16 October in Rome, representing Their Excellencies the Captains Regent.”
Three topics are on the agenda: “artificial intelligence and the labour market,” “resilient democracies: united against hybrid threats,” and “renewing the rule-based international order.”
Andruccioli will also take part in an event dedicated to women’s representation in institutions. “Councillor Andruccioli will also attend a meeting reserved for women speakers and deputy speakers of parliament,” the statement reads. Participants will be invited to respond in writing to two questions: “How can we, as women leaders, strengthen our collective action to turn the current backlash against women’s rights into a decisive turning point for equality?” and “What concrete steps are you personally committing to take — in your parliament, in political life and in your country — to help build a fairer, more equal, inclusive and resilient society?”
The answers will be made public: “All the contributions gathered will subsequently be published on a digital noticeboard on the website of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.”
